Recreation

Insurance for boats, RVs, motorcycles, and ATVs.

Auto policies don’t cover the boat, and homeowners coverage on a trailer is thinner than most people assume. These get written separately for a reason.

Boats and personal watercraft

Hull, liability, and trailer coverage — including while it’s parked at home for eight months of the year.

RVs and travel trailers

Full-timer coverage is a different product than weekend coverage. Which one you need depends on how you actually use it.

Motorcycles and ATVs

Oregon requires liability for street bikes. Off-road machines usually need their own policy or a scheduled endorsement.

Seasonal, but not really

Most losses on recreational vehicles happen in storage, not in use. Year-round coverage costs less than people think.

Questions we get

Common questions about boat, RV, and motorcycle insurance

Isn’t my trailer covered by my auto policy?

Liability often extends while towing. The trailer itself, and anything in it, generally is not covered by the auto policy.

Do I need insurance on an off-road ATV?

Not required by the state for off-road use, but liability exposure on a shared trail is real, and the machine itself is worth insuring.

Can I suspend coverage in winter?

You can on some policies, but we usually advise against it — theft and storage damage are the most common claims we see.
