Surety

Surety bonds for Oregon contractors and businesses.

Most people arrive here because the CCB, a court, or a project owner told them to. We write the bond, and we can usually turn it around fast.

Bond amounts are set by the Construction Contractors Board and vary by endorsement. Confirm your required amount with the CCB — we’ll write it to whatever they specify.

Questions we get

Common questions about surety bonds

Is a bond the same as insurance?

No, and the difference matters. Insurance protects you. A surety bond protects the public or the project owner — and if the surety pays a claim, you repay the surety.

How fast can I get one?

Notary and small license bonds are often same day. CCB bonds are usually quick. Larger performance bonds take longer because they require underwriting of the business itself.

My credit isn’t great. Can I still get bonded?

Usually yes, at a higher rate. Credit drives bond pricing more than almost anything else, but poor credit is rarely a hard stop on smaller license bonds.

How much does a CCB bond cost?

You pay a premium, not the face amount of the bond. For applicants with solid credit the premium is typically a small percentage of the bond amount annually.
